The next generation of the OnePlus phones, the OnePlus 13, is supposed to debut in China later this month. With the release around the corner, the company has just confirmed one spec: support for magnetic wireless charging.
The President and COO of OnePlus, Kinder Liu, confirmed in a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo that the OnePlus 13 will feature a “magnetic function” for wireless charging, suggesting Qi2 charging support.
This support may allow the phone to pack magnetic wireless charging similar to Apple’s MagSafe charging tech, paving the way for accessories like wallet cases.
The OnePlus executive shared a screenshot of a conversation with an anonymous fan who asked if the OnePlus 13 will have a bamboo case. Kender Liu replied that it will have wood grain cases with support for magnetic accessories instead of bamboo cases.
This implies a confirmation of magnetic wireless charging support.
This support is reasonable considering Oppo’s upcoming Find X8 series has the same feature and is even launching its line of magnetic accessories, including a power bank.
For now, we only know that the new flagship will have the latest flagship Snapdragon chipset, which will run on ColorOS based on Android 14, and will come equipped with the LYT-808 camera sensor with an f/1.6 aperture.
OnePlus 13 will introduce a major upgrade in the battery and will support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
However, like its predecessor, it’s expected to be released in China first, then have a global release. So, till then, stay tuned to know more updates.
