Google is reportedly working on developing an AI codenamed ‘Project Jarvis’ that can help users automate everyday tasks on the web, and it might be ready to be previewed as soon as December.
According to a report from The Information, this autonomous technology is designed to take over your browser and perform tasks such as ‘conducting research, making purchases, and booking flights.’
As per the sources that talked to The Information, Jarvis “responds to a person’s commands by capturing frequent screenshots of what’s on their computer screen, and interpreting the shots before taking actions like clicking on a button or typing into a text field.”
This system is believed to be powered by an advanced version of Google’s Gemini AI model. It is reportedly made to work only with web browsers, especially Chrome, and assist users with common tasks.
However, we have yet to determine whether this feature will only be limited to the web browser or extend to mobile apps.
According to some reports, Jarvis “operates relatively slowly because the model needs to think for a few seconds before taking each action.” This could imply that the technology relies on cloud processing instead of operating directly on your device.
However, it is justified as Google has always been unable to live up to its claims, similar to what happened with AI-generated Search Overviews and search results.
So, we would have to wait until its release in December to find out whether it truly delivers what it promises.
It is reported that we might get a glimpse of Jarvis as early as December, but it would be only limited to the subscribers of Gemini Advanced before becoming globally available.
