Last month, Apple released the iOS 18 developer beta during WWDC 2024 in June, and now, with the general release just around the corner, Apple has finally released the iOS 18 public beta version for all iPhone users.
iOS 18 is expected to bring a new set of updates, such as a customizable home screen, Control Center, lock screen, new text effects, managing Mail inbox, a Photos app overhaul, new message enhancements, a new password app, and a good deal of artificial intelligence (AI) updates.
These new updates are available for users who are part of Apple’s public beta program.
Reports say that Apple is going to host its big iPhone 16 event in early September, allegedly on September 10. There are speculations that the company will announce the iOS 18 release date at the same event.
The probability of changes in the iOS beta release in September is very low, as the company is currently focusing on making it more stable and fixing possible bugs.
Before you download the update to your device, note that iOS 18 is still in beta and could be buggy. Thus, you must avoid installing it on your primary device. However, if you do not have a secondary device, make sure to back up your device’s data and personal information.
To download the iOS 18 public beta version, you must make sure that your device runs at least iOS 16.5. Then, head to https://beta.apple.com/ and sign up for the Apple beta program.
Now, head over to the Software Update section of Settings, enable Beta Updates, and select the iOS 18 public beta to install it.
