According to a code change within Apple software discovered by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, Apple has seemingly leaked the next-generation Mac Mini with five USB-C ports.
The code refers to an unreleased Mac mini model with an Apple Silicon chip and five ports. This description lines up with the previous reports by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman who said the next Mac mini will be equipped with five USB-C ports.
The exact string was “Apple silicon Mac mini (5 Port).”
The biggest upgrade is the redesigned Mac Mini, which is finally getting an update in the external design since 2010. Although the Mac Mini is said to have a similar size to the Apple TV, it still uses an internal power supply.
The five-port description indicates that there will be another model with fewer or more ports, and some of the device’s current ports will be replaced by USB-C or Thunderbolt 4 ports, which use the USB-C connector design.
Gurman also says that the Mac models, including the Mac Studio, Mac Pro, and MacBook Air, will have M4-series updates throughout 2025.
Rumors say that the company is planning a product announcement for October to announce the products that didn’t get much hype at the Apple event.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman strongly believes the announcement will include the first wave of Macs with M4 processors, alongside some other M4 Macs and a new iPad Mini.
