On Monday, Apple released its latest software, iOS 18, for all iPhone devices. The new update includes various customization tools, message upgrades, and other enhancements.

The software was first teased during the tech company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, along with the Apple intelligence announcement.

Here is a list of features available in the update, so let’s take a look!

  • Home screen and Control Center customization
Apple is finally giving customization options for the iPhone home screen. Now, users can place app icons and widgets wherever they desire on the screen, as long as there is space.

They can change the size of the icons and remove the names underneath. Users will also get color-tinting options for apps and widgets to match their wallpaper. There is also a Dark mode that extends to icons.

Other customization options are available in the Control Center including grouped controls, the ability to resize controls, a gallery display, and more support for controls from third-party apps.
  • Messages App Updates
For Messages, there are more text effects, animated effects, the availability of words and emoji in iMessage, and the ability to change the format of texts.

There are more ‘Tapback’ reactions, and users can opt to “send later” and schedule messages for later delivery. Apart from that, Rich Communication Services is now supported.
  • Passwords App
iOS 18 is now introducing a standalone Password app for easy accessibility.
  • Photos Changes
In the redesigned Photos app, users can pin a collection or further customize collections and view photos by “recent days.” There is also a filter button for specific viewing.
  • Apple Intelligence
In a new release, Apple said that users can use Apple Intelligence features when iOS 18.1 rolls out next month. When rolled out, it will offer capabilities for Siri, Photos, and many other apps.
