Amazon launched one of its first full-color e-reader, Kindle Colorsoft among the other several updated Kindles in mid-October. However, according to recent sources, Amazon is suspending the shipping of the Kindle Colorsoft for up to a week or more.
Over the weekend, the publication stated that Colorsoft had encountered an issue with the screen display, causing a “yellowish bar” to appear at the bottom of its display.
The company only realized the problem when users took to the product page to leave terrible reviews. One user claimed that the yellowish bar takes up almost 5-10% of the screen. This resulted in bad publicity, and now the product sits at 2.6 stars with over 350 reviews.
Amazon recently acknowledged its actions, saying, “We’re aware of a small number of reports from customers who see a yellow band along the bottom of the display. We take the quality of our products seriously and are looking into it. If customers notice this on their device, they can reach out to our customer service team.”
The company will likely try to fix the software, though at the earliest the fix might take one week or two weeks. Amazon said that the issue might go away if users physically reboot the device and leave it powered off for a couple of minutes before restarting.
Initially, Dark Mode was also listed as a feature of Colorsoft; however, Amazon has updated the product description, saying the feature doesn’t work.
Many experts believe that Amazon was too hasty in its decision to release Kindle Colorsoft to compete against Rakuten Kobo, Onyx Boox, Remarkable, and Pocketbook, which resulted in a compromise in quality and assurance.
Users who ordered or pre-ordered the device will not receive it until November 9th to 18th in the US and November 26th in the United Kingdom.
