Originally, Analogue 3D was set to be released in 2024, but, unfortunately, it was delayed. Analogue has finally shared some details about the console.
On Wednesday, the company announced that Analogue 3D will launch early next year, meaning the first quarter of 2025. It will cost $249.99, come in black and white colors, and the pre-orders will kick off on October 21st at 11 AM ET on the official website.
The new console is a reimagining of the N64 and is similar to previous analog consoles covering the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy. The Analogue 3D can upscale the classic games display to 4K and includes multiple modes to resemble a CRT display’s look.
The company says the Analogue 3D is “designed with a bespoke, purpose-built 4K upscaler.” It is 100 percent compatible with the N64’s cartridge library using the FPGA technology, allowing it to function like the original console. This implies good news, as N64 is hard to imitate.
For connectivity, the Analogue 3D supports Bluetooth and has four original controller ports, two USB ports, an SD card slot, and a new operating system dubbed 3D OS. Apart from that, the console offers 4K HDMI video output and 48KHz 16-bit PCM audio output.
Although it doesn’t have a controller, 8bitdo has created an updated version of the N64 gamepad. It doesn’t include the third prong, as it is being sold separately for $39.99.
8BitDo 64 Controller is said to be a HALL-effect joystick and is compatible with the Switch, Android, and PC.
